Meaning: 1. Cast down in spirit or hope
 2. (of something bad) experienced or present to the maximum degree
3. (of a person or their behaviour) completely without pride or dignity; self- abasing.       
 
Synonyms: Obsequious, fawning.

Antonyms: Commendable, exalted.

Usage:  
1)  At the end he proffessed  abject  repentence for his disloyalty.
2) The situation created  abject terror.
3) He died in  abject poverty in 2012 at the age of 57.
4) Abject and lost, Sonalika did not know what to do when her husband left her for another woman.
